Re: Well, that just about sums it up

I interpret this engine thread more as a matter of taste (Corvette vs. GT-R)
than about pushrod vs. forced induction. I wish Liu could appreciate the
joys of big domestic V8s, and Singh tolerate the Skyline...but alas it looks
like that won't happen.

I too wish this grew into a powertrain analysis discussion. There are many
interesting things to compare...pushrod vs. DOHC, forced induction versus
naturally aspirated, turbocharging vs. supercharging (and the various forms
of each application), even V8 vs. V10 vs. V12.

I don't believe there's a simple answer to any of these questions, nor
should there be one universal solution for all engine problems. It'd be
interesting to speak to AMG Powertrain Engineers as they pretty much have
everything listed above but a V10 in their lineup....blown 5.5 v8, n/a
6.3v8, turbo
6.5 v12. Ford also has a variety of motors in their lineup as well.

The compromises a working Engineer must deal with is something tuners and
enthusiasts do not have to be bothered with. If indeed the LS7 is superior
in every way shape and form to an S2000 motor, then there must be a
marketing/accounting/finance/environmental/etc. reason for going with
inferior technology or methods.

I declare this battle a draw, and order both parties to kiss & make up or at
least take it to the track.
