I have no idea as to the "why", but I visited Bertone a couple of months ago. On display was old man Bertone's personal daily driver, a silver 308GT4. Drove it to/from work for over 15 years. His wife drove non-Bertone Alfas. (altho they modified a few for her.) Go figure. Hans.
