It would seem that the general consensus is that these things will be something akin to fecal matter. I do think it is important to remember that with all of the technology going into vehicle development these days that it is truly hard to actually get away with the mass marketing of such, shall we say, KaKa. Remember when Hyundai came across the pond? Need I mention that the nearest pedigree in line with this purported piece of crap would have to be in my opinion Kia. Even they are 10yr/100k mile warranty for next to nothing. But then again, a duck is a duck. Just my very tired and delusional two cents.

For support all you have to do in call their call center in India...

For those in with an IT background, you will see the humor in this...or cringe.

Cheers,

their POS they shipped here in mass. It took MotorTrend Mag to post a story
on the Yugo saying that you better buy two, one to drive and the second
spare for parts, before would be buyers started to reject the carand sales
dropped off while it became teh butt of jokes on late night TV . I expect to
see a lot of them soon given the prices of gas. Of course any $$ in gas
saved will no doubt be trumped by the parts costs to keep it repaired all
the time.;-)

Personal prediction - IMHO and all that, but I'll go on record to say this
kind of vehicle will not sell well in the US. I'm sure they will sell
some
but I doubt it will see top 10 kind of sales numbers. I assume at a
price
of $3k the builders plan (hope) to sell *lots* of these buggers to make a
profit.

I know the VW Beetle was a success back in the 60s and 70s but that was a
different age - people were willing to live/drive without AC, CC, PW, and
other convienences - but if that econobox is going to remain econo and not
just small it will need to keep the weight off - as someone mentioned - by
the time EPA and DOT get thru with it there will be bars in the doors,
15mph
bumpers, crumple zones, air bags, collapsing steering wheels, etc - it
will
find itself with significantly low power or a larger engine will be
offered
here - with less lofty mpg estimates.

But maybe I;m wrong ---

I understand EU has had small vehicles for years - for tax reasons as well
as the narrower roads over there - perhaps it will be successful. In any
case, it;s a step forward and new knowledge will be gained - never a bad
thing.

Seeing as how the car is to be sold in Europe and the UK I think the
emissions will be tighter than anything the states sells. After all the
recent EU
ruling on fuel economy and CO2 means cars here will have to average high
40mpg.... Frankly for the price I can see a lot of people that would want
one. The
average speed in London is 11mph! At that speed you aren't likely to need
a
huge crumple zone and with the cost of driving a larger car in London
rising to
$50.00 JUST FOR THE CONGESTION CHARGE A DAY from Feb 1 you can bet there
will be a lot of buyers. Wouldn't take it on the road however....

BTW don't be fooled by TATA. They aren't a backward third world company
and
with the low cost of production in India don't be surprised as production
shifts East. If they do buy Jag and L.R as predicted there will be a lot
of
technology that will be flowing to India....and a lot of Brits working
for
them....Actually I know quite a few Americans working at Jag who will be
working for
them as well.

It will be $12k once its here what with all the EPA and DOT add-ons. :-P

The emissions bit is stated that, "it's emissions are
half that of typical a motorcycle." In
common terms, it is probably as dirty as 314 Hondas.
