Howdy -
I think John has made a excellent point when he says <<the list seems to have exhausted itself in Ferrari content >>
and I believe it is happening in other specality lists also. The Porsche list which has a very large membership somedays only has 1, 2 or 3 posts while other days there will be 20. As John says, most of the technical issues have been talked about time and again, oil threads have run their course although new stuff happens all the time, and members talking about the classic Ferraris such as pre '74 have such few hands-on owners active on this list that talking about them is limited to info we gathered from reading. Not that that's a bad thing but I don't think many are interested in doing that.

The 3X8's have the largest population I believe and every technical aspect about them has been discussed numerous times. While there may be some owners of very exotic models their numbers are very small making threads difficult.

Maybe these lists are meant to have a finite lifespan? They've been active for 10+ years after all, which in the world of anything associated with computers is a very long time. It's a bit like getting a new coffee table book about our favorite marque - when new we read it and look at the photos until we have absorbed all the info that's there, then we leave on the table or bookshelf only referring to it once in a while. This is afterall a resource about Ferrari's unless we accept that it's a social discussion thing and allow OT threads to run their course. *Then* the lifespan is extended almost indefinately IMHO, assuming new people are dragged in as members once in a while.

As far as Algore is concerned - he's made a fortune talking about global warming - I wonder why he didn't make it a cause du 'jour during his 8 years in office? I know the VP position doesn't always mean a 1st class audience, but it *is* a pretty high position which often leads to the presidency. I will admit whenever he opens his mouth I close my ears - same for Clinton - once I understood he lied when he spoke I stopped listening - so perhaps he *was* making his claims of GW and I just didn't hear?

BTW, there was a Russian weather study released early this week that indicated a cooling trend was on the way. There's a lot of people with millions of $$'s at risk who will fight hard to discredit that bit of info.

Not trying to start a political war here, but let's be realistic, does
anyone really believe that algore is not far left in his politics? Sure, if one
is leftist leaning themselves, one might agree with his views, but
realistically, the only viable political figure these days more left than he is Hugo
Chavez. Not that there is anything wrong with being a leftist (even though my
views are 180 degrees opposed), but do not deny that leftist is what he is.

John

PS Having been on this list for 11 years, I feel that I am safe in saying
that an opinion about algore is NOT what caused Bighead to leave. It is more
the fact that the list seems to have exhausted itself in Ferrari content and
the core posters feel comfortable in commenting on other aspects of life, not
just "Oh, I just drove my Ferrari today!" or "What should I look for in
buying a 328?" As burning as those issues might be to someone new to the Ferrari
experience, there are gigabytes of information and expressions about those
topics posted in many different places on the web and to many the repetition
of those topics here is just as boring as yet another gabfest about watches,
guns or whatnot. The inbox might be almost empty of FList posts for weeks and
then someone will ignite a thread about a NFC topic and everyone comes to
life and the list is filled with a hundred posts in two days.

I, too, would like more direct Ferrari content, but let's face it, we
already have so much more information about Ferraris available to us that can be
accessed via a good search, it really reduces the need to repeat it on the
FList. On the other hand, this core group of people have a common love for
Ferraris but also realize that the friendships that have been formed here are much
deeper and more complex than that single hobby. To me, that is a much more
fulfilling kinship, but that is just MHO.

Could we get some Ferrari content back on this list?
