Hi Dan,
Thx for the comments - it's been a long time since I placed any ads in R&T but I think the lead time was at *least* 6 weeks - closer to 8 IIRC. Maybe R&T has some stock photos for The Stable since they buy at least 2 full color pages each issue - and silver is a pretty common color. Of course, the world of electronics has increased the speed of everything - maybe they have a new procedure in place to allow quicker turnaround of display ads with photos?

So, if the Stable gave the owner the 155 he wanted they'll make 20k from it -- not bad. ;-) of course there overhead is probably pretty high.

The timing *does* seem suspicious -

Larry,
I saw that in there and strangely enough I was offered the car about 3 weeks ago. I could not bring myself to pay more than 148k for the car. I of course would have bought it for inventory but the owner wanted 155k. I guess the stable stepped up. The only thing I find odd is that I would think that R&T's ad art would have had to have been submitted long before the said 3 weeks ago time frame. It truly is a nice car though.

I find this really odd - in the back of R&T there's a For Sale section - one
regular is "The Stable" in NJ - this time they have a '03 Ferrari 575M - in
great condition - with only 762 miles!! Who buys a car like that and drives
it a little more than 152 miles driven per *year* on average!!

Maybe they tought it ws going to be an investment - (*Ha!* it's going for
$175k) I'll bet the cost of paying insurance, taxes, maintanence, etc just
to keep it sitting in the garage! Just seems to be the ultimate in waste.
Why buy it in the 1st place? Seems so silly -
Am I missing something? Do some people buy these wonderful machines and use
them as long-term lawn ornaments?
