Actually you are wrong 3-5 miles will not get the car up to operating temps.
And let me ask you this if this were an airplane that was flown like this
would you buy it!
You would only do it once !
Cars that are driven like this are the ones we all here about all time. 
Ferraris are like athletes they need to be run hard and exercised not wash
and waxed in oblivion! Like the CAV crowd.
When I bought my 93 512 TR in 96 it had a grand total of 10k miles on it and
the biggest gripe on the car was DEAD BATTERY!
Go figure.
If you buy a low mileage car expect major problems from window motors to
cooling issues along with suspension bushing etc.
Having a super model locked up in a half way house does you no good between
the sheets when she gets out.
She will not be flexible when you need her to be.

It's good to see we're "Drivers" here!   As you said, it's better to drive
them than let them sit & rot - there's a sweet spot though of low miles but
not miles that are too low - less than 1000 miles in 4-5 years is way too
low.  OTOH, the MB I bought early last year - a 91 with 99k on it or approx
7000 mi per year.  I did some checking and the owner drove it 3-5 miles a
day back & forth to work and lunch.  

    IMO that's low miles - but enough to keep things from rotting from
under-use.  I replaced some stuff - mostly regular maintanence items and my
wife stated driving it to work on a 110 mi RT of mostly 70 mph driving.
After 6 months of that it ran perfectly and all the rubber, plastic and
other stuff is still young enough to be in perfect condition.

    There's a place called www.Sloancars.com who specializes in ultra low
mileage cars (mostly Porsches) and asks high dollar for them - like an 87
959 with ~4000 miles on it.   Total waste of money IMO - as you say, cars
are meant to be driven!

    You're probably right about the Ferrari being on Consignment at The
Stable - while the owner and his agents still try to sell it.

  Maybe The Stable doesn't own the car, maybe it is (and has been) on
consignment with them.  They get paid a commission if they find a buyer and
the seller can still try to find a buyer on his own.  That way the seller
can be offering it to buyers and meanwhile The Stable places an ad for it
hoping to get a buyer for that particular car to get a commission or at
least to generate traffic to their shop to buy something else.  Happens a
lot, especially with high value items.  

  I agree with the feeling that it is an entire waste to buy a car like that
and not drive it.  Even if it ever became "collectible" (which it won't
because there just are too many of them), driving the car is infinitely
better for the long term health of the car than letting it sit and rot.  Not
to mention a hell of a lot more fun!

  I just can't imagine telling my grandchildren "Boy oh boy, you should have
seen all of the cool cars that I have owned!"  Grandchildren "Wow, grandpa,
that sounds great!  They must have been fun to drive!  What were they like
to drive?"  Grandpa, "Er, um, hey have you guys done your homework yet?"
