No definitive answers on this one and you are likely to get many
conflicting opinion.
My .02 are that unless you are going to drive the car and get everything up to temperature, you are better off not disturbing the cars hibernation.
Starting it and letting it idle really doesn't get it hot enough, tends to wash the cylinder walls with fuel, and dilutes the oil with fuel and condensation.
Generally, in terms of warm up, start the car and drive it gently until the oil starts to show some temps. Unless its very cold and the car has been sitting outside then I'll let it idle for just a few minutes.

This will also tend to load the plugs up too.

Just my opinion ...

Ok, since we are talking Ferraris today....
What is the list concensus on letting your 3x8 idle/warm up? I'd prefer to get in her and go, however the packed snow/ice on the roads are precluding me from that. Secondly, I know that if I let my GT4 sit for more than 2 weeks, she turns into a real b*tch! So, what I do is I'll fire her up and let her idle up to temp. (15-20mins..) During that time I'll check out all my hoses, make sure clamps are tight, fiddle around in the garage and generally stink up the place. I'll then shut her down and check the oil.
If the ice would get out of my Cul de Sac, I could drive her around my neighborhood!!! :(
Thoughts?
