Having a wife from Mexico City, I have a good window into the immigrant
community, legal and illegal.  From my experience, 99% of the illegal
immigrants are no differerent than you or I.   They work in low paying, back
breaking jobs, they pay social security taxes, they pay rent, they pay
property taxes on the cars and stuff they purchase, they pay rent to a
landlord such as yourselves, they attend church regularly, their children go
to schools paid for by the property taxes on the homes they pay rent in,
etc.  This is not hype, this is my personal experience.

They DO NOT recieve social security checks, etc, they only recieve medical
care when something is drastically wrong(and then they go to the emergency
room where anyone(legal or illegal) can go to get services.

The only "benefits" they get for being here is a higher paying($5 - $10/hr)
job, which is not available in Mexico/Columbia/Guatemala, etc.  These people
are meatpackers, maids, concrete workers, steel workers, farm hands, etc.
There is nothing keeping them from losing their jobs to a legal US citizen,
except for a lack us legal US citizens applying for these types of jobs at
$5 - $10/hr.

In summary, they contribute more to this country than the slackers hanging
out on welfare who don't want to get a job because they might make too much
money and not qualify for further welfare.

In my opinion, we should deport the slackers and keep the workers.......

illegal
aliens, ASAP after they participate in a CCC type work project to  improve

this country they would not have accrued  them). The, simply reduce all
welfare and "on the dole" program  benefits to 60% of the net income after
taxes,
and without earned income  credits at the level of the minimum wage. Then
offer
the folks on welfare the  opportunity to "do the jobs Americans won't do" to
make up the  difference."

Actually, I couldn't have said it better myself, but then again in the
discussion between us I have probably said all of that at one time or
another.
Incidentally, he in not big on the government's "catch and  release" formula
currently in place of the undocumented aliens. It might work  for animals
and
fish who are endangered species, but illegal aliens don't quite  fit into
that
category.

We certainly can afford some opportunities for the truly gifted of other
nations, but, even a motel that generates revenue from occupancy knows when
it
is so fully it cannot properly accommodate any more based upon capacity and
the
 ability to properly provide services to those already there.

Just some simple thoughts from one of Homeland Security's finest, who deals
with these problems on the front line every single work day of his life.
