I'm sure the largest percentage of those here are hardworking, sober & honest - but as with anything else, a bad apple spoils the whole barrel. And naturally that bad apple gets the publicity. One of my favorite phrases. I showed him my home and asked for his advice, he made a few suggestions that sounded pretty good, so I gave him the green light...........I was away when they started and came back mid day of the last of the job, I have never seen any thing quite like it, they had scaffolding up along one wall and there were workers all over the scaffolding, some doing tree work some doing stucco work and some doing paint work..... things people and material was literally flying about....the scaffolding was braced here and there with a wooden chock or a couple of bricks and looked about as secure as something that I might have built in my drive way. Later my wife told me that it had been that way for 3 days and it was like being at monkey island at the zoo. They finished in 3 days and when I got the bill it was far less than I expected ......... I doubt that there were any local licenses obtained, or OSHA rules followed but it was done. BTW, one of the workers has subsequently done work for me independently of the contractor, he is always on time and works until what ever assigned task is done...has never been less than polite, speaks some English refuses a cold beer even on the hottest of days and when I offered him some thing that was in my garage which was going to be trashed I had to fight him because he wanted to pay me. BTW, even though I have a problem with immigration, I have no quarrel with the people or their work ethic, in fact they could teach us all a lesson, BUT we need to get the rules in place and then allow those who will follow them the luxury of doing so. The work that was originally performed thru the contractor was excellent, and continues to be so.
