Hey Paul: I've had my gt4 since June, 1999, and changed filters every 4K, using only UFIs. I've put 50K on it with NO oil baths. But then, it's only a Shitbox, right cLyDe? Sounds like a 99% urban legend to me. Think of all the UFIs used all over the world, and how many actually burst. Sounds like it's a toss-up on whether you get hit by a?piece of space junk?or have a UFI malfunction first. Juan Manuel Fangio? probably owes his life to, when jumping into his Mercedes 300SLR at the start of the 1955 LeMans du?24, having the gearshift lever run up inside his pants leg, delaying his start by some 20 seconds. Fangio was some?50 meters behind Mike Hawthorn and Pierre Leveigh when they came together on the pit straight, killing Levegh and some 80 odd spectators. In all the thousands of LeMans type starts that have taken place over the years, That's the only one that I've ever heard of that a driver, whe jumping into his car, stuffed the gearshift knob up his pants-leg. I guess it happens about as often as a UFI bursts, or you get hit on the head by the frozern contents of an airliner toilet. ? Yer pal, Ferrari Bubba -----Original Message----- From: Paul Subject: [Ferrari] UFI Oil Filters - no watch or gun content Anyone remember back some 8-10 years ago, a few stories about UFI filters for the 308 bursting, spraying oil throughout the engine compartment? I have 2 such UFI oil filters in Ferrari factory boxes dated 24-04-98, which I should sell but don't want to pass risk of the problem to an unsuspecting buyer, if in fact it is a potential problem. The information I seek is whether this was a genuine widespread problem or a localized fluke. And whether it can be identified by datecode to a specific lot of filters. So far I've searched the FerrariChat 2003 archives, Google, Dogpile & Yahoo and found only 1 personal bursting story by Bill Badurski FCA chairman - he claims sealing gasket let go due to a production problem since corrected. tks p _________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe or modify your subscription options, please visit: http://lists.ferrarilist.com/mailman/options/ferrari/red5hilser%40aol.com Sponsored by BidNip.com eBay Auction Sniper http://www.BidNip.com/ and F1 Headlines http://www.F1Headlines.com/
