First I don't have a hybrid, I HAVE an 89 GEO METRO that when new go 50mpg
highway and now a 130,000 miles later gets 42mpg highway and 37 city. It
has room for 4 plus luggage.
The sad part is that the media is making a big deal out of hybrids and the 'SMART CAR' that has half the capacity and not as good a milage.
I also have a 2004 Avelanche that gets 15mph hwy down from 18 mpg hwy that my 2002 Avelanche got (with the same engine).

They should be pointing out milage has gone down instead of up since 89.

The 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo gets 20mpg hwy
and the 1981 Ferrari 308 GTSi gets 18mpg hwy.
Combined gallons per year is 1000 including mowing my 5 acres.

So, 5 liters per 100 kilometers would equal out to around 47 miles per
gallon. Not too shabby. I get around 20 mpg with the Mercedes, Karen
usually gets mid to high 20s with her Integra, and my '96 Camaro SS has
gotten a bit more than 17 on occasion, but I expect 16 when I drive it
"normally". Not going to do anything w/o investigating a lot more (and it's
fun) but this is just ridiculous. I know other countries have been paying a
lot more for a lot longer. Maybe we should just "liberate" Saudi Arabia.
Nah, just kidding, but I'll bet it's been tossed around...

ofAs a matter of fact...my father and girlfriend both drive a toyota prius.
I love driving it. As long as you drive it in the way it was intended, and
not like some sort of sports car, I think anyone would enjoy driving it.
They get, in the real world, less than 5l/100km
They use less fuel in traffic than on the open road!
The dead silence every time you stop is eerie.
They have all the "mod cons"
The steering feels great.
So far in 3 years of ownership, not one problem (as you'd expect from
toyota)
Overall, the fuel economy is just a bonus.

Any hybrid daily drivers out there on the F-list? I'm seriously thinkinggetting a hybrid of some sort. Not that it will make any immediateeconomicplansense (buying a hybrid to "save" money on gasoline expenses) but I'm just really getting pissed (in the American sense of the word, although, Britt and Francis, if you're out there, I did have a drink tonight and sortagason having another one) at the high gasoline prices. I paid $3.599 per gallon yesterday or the day before, and about 6 or 7 days prior to thatwas "only" $3.299 per gallon. 9.1% price increase in less than 1 week?!?!Tulsa,
Yikes! That's what, 473.2% per year?
You gotta be kidding me.
Thanks to all,
Tom (about to have one more drink "for medicinal purposes") Reynoldshttp://lists.ferrarilist.com/mailman/options/ferrari/ferrarilist%40pless.comOK _________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe or modify your subscription options, please visit:
