Here is what I have seen and experienced
If you are nice you will be treated nice for the most part
But if you walk in with a
Hollier than thou attitude
You loose big time
The DOT COMUNNIST crowd
When they were big did this them seleves
They were tired of the belly button
Car and wanted in LARGE
Did not know jack about Ferraris but thought the Brand owed it too them
Since they were making the cars worth in a day
Hence Ferrari of Beverly Hills
Even some of the old listers that are now gone fit this bill
Big pockets and a humble knowledge base gets you far
Most dealers world wide are very aware of the image they must maintain to sell
200K cars
I have had dealers work on my car at a moments notice because I was out of
state just to get me on my way
This was shelton of FLL many years ago
Then there was Ferrari of SFO who the arm pit of the Marque

Subject: Re: [Ferrari] Ferrari Dealers

Let's have an open discussion on how Ferrari dealers treat their customers.

It has come to my attention that of all the marques available, the toughest
one to get considerate treatment from the dealer has been Ferrari. After
seeing a thread on fchat about how an Enzo/F40 customer was treated, things
have gotten a bit interesting.

Hey Fellippe, I worked for the authorized Ferrari dealer network on and off
from 1967 to 1992....one thing that I can tell you is that the few times that I
ever pissed some one off by being "holier(richer) than thou" was when some one
came into the show room with a chip on their shoulder......as in "who would
spend this much for a car" or "my Porsche is better than any Ferrari" or " F
cars need nothing but attention and special mechanics just to keep them
running."

I would always try first to help them to understand that some people loved the
cars and were willing to give up $14,000.00 to buy a new 275 GTB/4, or that
certainly their Porsche was a better car (for them), but not for some one who
could understand a Ferrari, and what it represented to them as an individual.
And es, they may have been a little more difficult to maintain and repair, but
that was due in part to the rarity of the cars.

The last real run in I had though was in the 80's, 308 times ( which I still
enjoy driving) I had a local die hard Porsche guy who would come in to the show
room every Saturday look at the new 308's and then proceed to tell me, and any
one who cared to listen, all the things that were wrong with Ferraris....one
Saturday he went one step too far, and interrupted me with his remarks a couple
of times while I was trying to close a sale ( this reminds me, there was atime
when we had to actually sell the cars, god forbid that should ever happen
again, some sales men will be out on the street faster than you can say Enzo)
at any rate I asked him if he thought that he could buy a Ferrari and he said
whats the matter don't you think I have the money and I told him no not at all,
I don't think you have the balls.

Today I know things are different, I detect a degree of arrogance from those
who do not know me if I happen to visit a show room where I am not known (which
is probably most), but I have learned tha in this world, arrogance is generally
displayed due to

1) A real lack of knowledge
2) A lack of credentials,
3) A lack of a decent up bringing
4) A lack of common sense
5) Just plain stupidity.

So if you ever happen to be in a Ferrari show room and feel that you are being
treated rudely or in a condescending manner with no provocation or baiting on
your part, you can say Phil told me that you are an asshole.
