Welll, that's a new one on me. I always thought it was 'K' for kurz, meaning 
short or small, like the 7.92mm kurz?short round fired from the MP43/44 assault 
rifle used in?WW2. BTW, the type 82 WW2, and later type 181 NATO Kubelwagens 
were named after the construction of the seats. Or so they say.
