Hello Friends,

It's time to begin the rebuild of my Mondial QV's K-Jetronic fuel injection.
Stage one is behind me. I've been studying and mending CIS fuel injection for
a long time, having owned BMWs and Porsches. Now, I'm attacking the messed-up
system in this car.

Here's a look under the sheets, http://www.aubard.us/Mondial/HPIM1312.JPG . In
this view you can see the injectors and fuel lines as well as the cold start
injector and various bits of plumbing.

Here's a look at the cold start injector,
http://www.aubard.us/Mondial/HPIM1313.JPG . The bit between the injector and
the plenum is an air tap for the Auxiliary Air Valve, coming off the bottom of
the tap. In this shot you can also see the Warm Up Regulator. While not
really visible in this view, there is a modification. The cracked and decroded
hose is part of the added-on lambda valve circuit. This car never had a lambda
system, when originally delivered. It was added when federalized. That whole
circuit needs to go away. There are two banjo fittings on the WUR with an
extended length banjo bolt. I need to replace the bolt with a shorter, correct
model and remove the pseudo-lambda hose.

In the picture you can also see that there is a thermal switch in the water
manifold, designed to switch vacuum. There are no hoses connected to this
switch. No clue what it originally did but it isn't in the parts manual!

You can see most of the fuel distributor and the added-on lambda valve in this
picture, http://www.aubard.us/Mondial/HPIM1314.JPG next to the oil filler cap.
And here, http://www.aubard.us/Mondial/HPIM1320.JPG and here,
http://www.aubard.us/Mondial/HPIM1321.JPG . You can also see the non-return
valve in series with the (electrically) disconnected lambda valve.

In this picture, http://www.aubard.us/Mondial/HPIM1315.JPG , you can see the
coolant expansion tank and the level sensor. Also in this picture you can see
the Auxiliary Air Valve, mounted on the tank. Here's a better view,
http://www.aubard.us/Mondial/HPIM1316.JPG .

That's it folks. Its documentation and cleaning time. Following this will be
testing and repair, as needed, to put the FI system back the way Sr. Enzo
wanted it to be.

Happy Sunday Evening,

rick
