Hey Gang, What is the preferred way to set the idle speed on a K-Jetronic injected car? The Mondial Service Manual says to set the idle with the butterfly closing position adjustment, not the air bypass valve. In fact, it says to run the bypass screw all the way closed unless proper idle speed cannot be set with the butterfly adjustment. The Bosch K-Jetronic manual says to NEVER set the idle speed this way and to use the air bypass valve! It goes on to state that the butterfly limit screw is only to prevent damage to the butterfly. Some might argue that I should just set the idle speed any way I choose and drive the car. I on the other hand, enjoy the voyage not so much the destination. I want to rebuild the whole FI according to the book. The question remaining is, which book? And on a similar topic, the Mondial QV Service Manual shows the throttle linkage on the bottom of the throttle body (butterfly shaft vertical). The parts manual shows the body rotated 90 degrees with the linkage on the left side (shaft horizontal). And on a similar, similar topic, my '83 Standard Specification Mondial QV uses the same air plenum as the Mondial 8, not the later QVs, where the throttle body IS rotated. This arrangement agrees with the parts manual. Confusing fun. Yea, these cars - being the unloved 2+2 children - seem to show a whole lot of variability. Interesting stuff, well, to me anyway. regards, rick
