My former CFO was with Comair from their first plane or 2.
That believe it or not, is pretty good. Some guys at some
airlines are PAYING for their job. That's right. You pay $10k/year
for the privilege of working. Others get socked with really steep
training costs that sometimes come out of their paycheck.

(IF you ignore the fact that there are paying passengers in the back,
you're getting multiengine experience in a fairly complex type for less
than it costs to rent a Cessna at the FBO)

Incidentally, my buddy just put a plane in the drink here in sunny
California a few months ago. They climbed out on the wing and
waited for the coast guard. Broken con-rod had seized the engine
up at 1000' over the Bay. He did not look warm or happy on the
news footage. It was 75F here most of this week. I hear that the Hudson
might be a little colder this time of year.

What you said is true, but not everyone can pass the many stages of testing
that is required to be a Commercial ATP either.Remember that Com Air Jet that
crashed in Kentucky 3 years ago killing 49 of the 50 people on board. The
pilots took off on the wrong runway. Guess what Com Air pays its pilots of it's
50 seat jets.( see link below) 7-11's in my area pay more to their HS dropouts
that can't count change correctly.
