My opinion: Flight attendants are a member of the flight crew. That team
together is our assurance of safe travel.

What you said is true, but not everyone can pass the many stages of testing
that is required to be a Commercial ATP either.Remember that Com Air Jet that
crashed in Kentucky 3 years ago killing 49 of the 50 people on board. The
pilots took off on the wrong runway. Guess what Com Air pays its pilots of it's
50 seat jets.( see link below) 7-11's in my area pay more to their HS dropouts
that can't count change correctly.

It takes a lot more skill and training to be a surgeon than a flight
attendant though. And surgeons are usually saving the life of someone who is
definitely dying, and they do it daily. Most flight attendants may not have an
experience like the one in NY in their entire careers. Plus, not just anyone
can be a surgeon!

Quite true. I dated a flight attendant for a few years and the amount of
training they get for this is way beyond what most people understand.
Couple that with the crap they have to put up with from passengers who
still think of them as air-waitresses and it makes it all the more
impressive that they can do what this crew did.

==================
Even worse is how bad flight attendant pay ( and even pilot pay as of
recent ) is in comparison to their responsibilities. If a Anesthesiologist
making $ 300k screws up in the OR, the worst thing that can happen is one
person dies. If a flight crew member screws up , hundreds of people could
die. Who really deserves the $ 300,000 salaries more?
