Speaking of Lancia, I had two Scorpions back in the day. A '76, and a '77,
both red. And unfortunately both totaled. The first by my son Willie who was
supposed to be washing it while I was a work. He was joyriding with friends
instead and got t-boned at the driver's side door hard enough to break the
motor
mounts of the jeep that hit him. Hospital time, but no lasting injuries.

The second one, a '77, was hit from behind, stopped at a signal in Tucson @
2 am by a drunk illegal alien, doing 55 mph. who had stolen the big Buick an
hour earlier. Other than my neck feeling like Linda Lovelace's after filming
'Deep Throat,' I was somehow uninjured. The other driver suffered a compound
ankle fracture and a concussion where I kicked him in the head as he was on
the the ground screaming for help. I guess my pointy cowboy boot did it's
job. BTW, he skipped back to Mexico 30 minutes after he was released from
jail.
A no-show in court, out on an OR bail.

One of the advantages of owning a red Italian sports car in Tucson back in
the late 1980's was when you slapped a couple cavallino decals on the fenders.
Park out front, and on any ladies' night at the local shitkicker bar,
believe me, you're guaranteed more ass than every toilet seat in the largest
womens' prison in Arizona.

Hey, a girl's got to do what a girl's got to do for a ride home in a
Ferrari, right? <g>

_1958 Lancia Flaminia Berlina in the US - For Sale on eBay_

The last car offered for sale in the US with the Lancia
name was the Beta. Available as a sedan, coupe, HPE (a 2 door, sporty station
wagon) and sports car (The Lancia Beta Zagato - known as the Spider in most of
the world), the Beta was an interesting, if somewhat uninspired, line of
cars that shared the same mechanical and rust problems that plagued its parent
company, Fiat. Fiat, along with Lancia disappeared from US showrooms in the
early eighties.

Fiat took over Lancia in 1969, but prior to that it was an independent
company that made some really spectacular cars.

The car listed on eBay is a 1958 Flaminia sedan. The Flaminia coupe and
convertible are starting to become genuine collector's items and the sedan is
not
far behind.

Designed by Pininfarina, the styling can best be described as an Italian
take on 1950s-style American sedans. The small tail fins are cleverly
integrated
into the roofline and the rear bumper comes up to meet the tail lights. From
the front, if you squint hard, you can see shades of the 1955 Chevy Impala.
(Sort of. You need to squint really hard) Like the rest of the Flaminia line,
the hood has a small scoop.

What's under that hood and scoop is what's really interesting... a 2.5 liter
V6. Lancia is credited with developing the world's first production V6 in
1950, and this is an evolution of that engine.
This engine moved the car at a nice pace.

Another interesting feature of this car is its rear window wipers. There are
4 of them. 2 on the outside and 2 on the inside! This feature was
discontinued on later cars.

The car being offered on eBay needs total restoration, but appears to be
complete.

There were less than 4000 of the Flaminina sedans built, making this a rare
car indeed. It deserves a complete restoration.

The car being offered on eBay is located in Simi Valley, CA. The seller
doesn't seem to know a lot about the car but has provided some decent
pictures.
The body appears to only have some minor dents and rust, but I'd e-mail the
seller with plenty of questions before bidding. _Click here_
