One of the old tricks to combat rust in old FIATs, or so I read in an old
copy of R&T, was to take dust from a vacuum cleaner bad, mix it with fresh
motor oil and smear it inside the door panels. Another friend who owned a
356 porsche from new, and drove it through many Canadian winters, was to
take heavy grease, and smear the inside of the fenders, and pretty much
everywhere else he could reach. He swears, the car never developed a spot
of rust in the years he had it. The greenies would love such practices
today. hee hee.
