Since the early 90's my wife and I have shared a number of Japanese
cars predominantly Honda....at times I have been embarassed to 1)
Admit this and 2) Admit that (at times) I love them, but, I wonder
   what they really can do

Reliable economical, strong residual value etc. and yes they lack
   soul.

How ever, I have driven these 1.5 ro 2.5 litre cars upwards of 100
mph.and sensed that there was a lot more on tap......our current daily
driver an 08 Honda CRV with 30,000 miles has made the trip back and
forth between Phila. and Florida several times and it just does not
falter ....I can predict arrival times, I can estimate fuel
consumption and I can relax with out passing out from shear boredom.
It is a great car and a remarkably well built piece of
   transport.......

What I really want to know is has any one ever really put this 2.4L 4
   cyl engine to the test?
   I have seen 105 /110 on I 95 late at night for
litterally hours.....why I have not been arrested is obvious, it's a
Honda not a Ferrari....It feels like there is another 30 mph waiting
for me to push it, I have often wondered just how strong that engine
is / could be....any body know??

BTW, I hope that soon I will feel the same way about a Ford / Chev. /
   Chry product......
BTW, I also long for the day that I can expect to be treated by a
domestic dealer the same way I am treated by my Honda dealer....Like a
   customer.
