Hey Rodney: A "well heeled group?" Well heeled my ass. In the desert, I
found that more money that you spend, the more boring your stay will be. You'll

see.

You're about 30 years too late to 'party' in Palm Springs, my man. Back in
the day, my favorite spot was always Taquitz Falls, located about half a mile
west of Palm Canyon Drive, just above downtown.

It was a beautiful little oasis, with a natural 70-foot waterfall where you,
and a hundred or so of your new friends could 'let your hair down,' as they
say, splash and frolic in the cool, clear water without the bothersome need
of restrictive bathing suits. But that was back in the 1970's when the motto
was 'Everybody shares, man,' And that meant either your herb, various
chemicals
. . . or even your girlfriend!

The only rule there was that there were NO rules. When my kids were old
enough to start asking me about 'where do babies come from,' I took them up to
the Falls, and believe me, in one hot, sunny afternoon, they learned more about

the Kama Sutra and sexual positions than if they had gone to a Johnny
Wadd/Long Dong Silver Film Fest at the local Pussycat Theater. No more
questions
after that.

These days, Palm Springs is filled with folks that might have a far
different sexual orientation than would be depicted in an old Norman Rockwell
Saturday Evening Post cover. Different strokes . . .

And Rodney, better watch out. That 'girl' that you chatted up in the club
down on Palm Canyon Drive earlier in the evening, might be full of surprises
when you take her back to your motel room for a nightcap. And under NO
circumstances, let 'her' tie you up and blindfold you in bed for a little kinky
 'fun
& games!' Especially if 'she' whips out a tube of K-Y from 'her' purse before
the lights go out, if you get my drift.

But now, depending on just how 'adventuresome' you are, there's a
winter-long 'Burning Man' Festival at a place known as The Slabs. An old
abandoned AFB,
on the other side of the Salton Sea.

It hosts a 100,000 strong band of 'thrill seekers,' who live, laugh, and
love below the radar screen of modern civlilization. Tents, motor-homes,
campers, or just sleeping bags and a campfire is what they call home from
about late
October until the temps start the climb to 115* in the summer. Take this old
camper's advice though, better go armed. Better safe than sorry.

In Phoenix, I suggest eating at either The Heart Attack Grill, or the
downtown Sports Bar owned by Alice Cooper & Randy Johnson. At the Spts joint,
their
special is 'Randy Johnson's Big Unit.' Believe me, it's more than a
mouthful. Some say it approaches 2 feet in length. There's even a sign above
the door
that proudly announces that, 'Linda Lovelace Refused To Eat Here.' <g>

The Heart Attack Grill serves cheeseburgers that are so artery clogging that
the wait-staff all wear the skimpy nurse outfits that you see in the films
that are shown down at your local Pussycat Theater.

Hope this was of help. Let us now, and good luck, yer pal Ferrari Bubba

Hey gang, I thought of no better place to ask advice on traveling somewhere
than this well-heeled group. I'm going to visit Mom this week in Phoenix
and then see some of my business partners in Palm Springs, Huntington Beach,
Long Beach and then finish up some business in Scottsdale next week. I'm
taking Mom with me to visit the SoCal clan on the weekend and we were thinking
of
hitting Catalina Island. It's been on my list for many years and I missed
going to special events there during my dancing days. Any advice for this
round trip from Phoenix and back? Mom is having me rent a car instead of
using
hers since I tend to destroy most anything I drive even for a short trip...
Weather there is better than anything in Chicago right now. We are up for
adventure. Mom taught me how to "party" (scary thought about mom for those
that know me already).

Thanks.

Rodney
