I've used Techron and BG 44K (http://www.powerenhancer.co.uk)

To be correct, I've used BG 44K in my wife's Hyundai and Techron in the 328.
Since I've disassembled the 328, I can tell you that it did in fact clean
the intake valves but I'm not so sure about the pistons, they still had
carbon but it could be less than before, I really don't know.
On my wife's car it was very clear the car had some power restored (even my
wife has noticed it) and it gets better fuel mileage.

I would say both products work to some extent, but there's no replacement
for "tear-it-apart-decarbonize-and-put-it-back-together"
