Rick, turbo is the "old school" way of doing things. That was for when manufacturers couldn't or didn't know how to make an engine that made big BHP (over 400) and still get good mpg. Those days are gone or at least should be. There are manufacturers out there that are accomplishing all of this without the added complication, weight, cost and heat of forced induction. Forced induction is a band aid for a core engineering deficiency whether it be poor fuel economy or poor power production. The basic engine design needs to be addressed. It's 2009...we now have light, powerful engines that get great fuel economy normally aspirated. Forced induction is a sell out...it would be sad if Ferrari resorted to this. They should be the ultimate in engineering exercise. With the green-green-green attitude of the regulators, the way to stay low-emissions but get power when you need it is by forced injection. And with a turbo, you basically have an economical, normally asperated engine at low engine speeds. --- On Tue, 3/31/09, E M <pokiebaron [at] gmail.com> wrote: > From: E M <pokiebaron [at] gmail.com> > Subject: Re: [Ferrari] F450 Spy Shots > To: "rolindsay" <rolindsay [at] yahoo.com> > Cc: "The FerrariList" <ferrari [at] ferrarilist.com> > Date: Tuesday, March 31, 2009, 11:41 AM > I read some story that Ferrari was tinkering with smaller > displacement and > turbo charging for a number of it's future cars.
