I agree.....I had two 164 one "S" model and one "L" model.....Of all the cars I 
owned I believe these engines were the best of all.....

The only engine/transmission that I believe would be a good fit for any of the 
entry level exotics (i.e. Ferrari 308, 308 GT4 and Lamborghini Urraco, Jalpa) 
is the Alfa Romeo 164 series of engines.  They have a similar layout, are 
beautiful and provide similar performance.  While I would not rush out to do 
this conversion, they have been installed in Lancia Stratos reproductions and 
would be sensible alternative to keeping a Ferrari or Lamborghini on the road 
if there were no engines/transmissions available for these.

I had a 164 and I loved that engine and transmission, a real delight to drive.  
I think these were fantastic V6 engines.
