I should practice what I preach. I am so paranoid about the tire guys scratching my wheels I seem to get them painted every time
I get tires, its been about 5 years now.

All,

I think that Clyde is one of the people I most respect on this list.
His service to our country, knowledge and flying experience
astound me, however I would disagree with him on maybe this one issue.
Maybe among top tire models of the top brands
there may be little difference but I have first hand experience with
tires and have found out that you get what you pay for.
The tire patch holding us and our precious Ferrari's to the road is
smaller than the palm of your hand. The rubber compounds,
tread patterns, speed rating and build quality can make a difference
between life and death.

Just a few years ago a Testarossa running in an event some of you may
remember left the road at high speed and killed the
driver and his wife due to wrong tire speed rating and age, and the
512 that crashed recently in the northwest was riding on
its original tires possibly causing two more fatalities. I would agree
spend your money wisely but also wisely pick the shoes for your
ride. I bet there are some on this list who has a pair of shoes cost
more than a whole set of the most expensive tires available.

Also if your tires are over 10 years old change them. If I am not
mistaken it was a taire blowout that caause the crash of the last
SST?

Sincerely,

Rob

I am a driver not a washer and a waxer!
I by the tires that are on sale at Tire Rack that fit the car!
There is not a dimes worth a difference between tires!
When you read performance tire reports the most I have ever seen is
around
10 feet of braking distance.
I routinely mix and match different brands front to rear.
In fact I am in the process of buying new tires for the 512 TR this
week.
Its your money spend it wisely.

It's time again for tires for the 1990 TR with stock wheels. The
Tire Rack
offers one Z rated brand, the BF Goodrich g Force Sport, and a
Yokohama AVID
V4s. Does anyone have experience with either of these tires? If I
upgraded
the wheels and tires to 18's what should I look for? Has any one
done this
and are you happy with the look and the performance. Anyone care to
comment. Thanks in advance. Bob
