Damn Stephen - if it weren't for bad luck you'd have no luck at all! Sheesh! But I must be missing something - you said <<3star room ($59) in Nice for 5 nights $1100 n...>> since $60x5=$300. Is the balance of $800 for something else? Perhaps those massage girls that follow men around the hotels? ;-)

But you're right - when you plan something it seems the powers put their foot down - on yours. Bummer - especially when dealing with those non-refundable fees! Ouch!

Perhaps things will shake out sooner than later - there are a lot of people with high stakes in making F1 work...

Later ya'll

Larry, 1st I believe it will good for the sport to be Rid of Max and Bernie.
That being said here is my time line:
6/14 I post on Ferrarichat my 2010 Monaco plans and Ferrari Factory tour
6/15 I read a post from Jknight that I had better make my reservations in Nice as they are almost gone
6/16 I do an online search for a hotel in Nices, come up empty.
6/17 go into town and AAA the travel agent finds us a normla 3star room ($59) in Nice for 5 nights $1100 non refundable except for medical reasons
6/18 I get the email that Ferrari and 7 others are pulling out of F1
6/19 I here on Speed the Monaco say NO Ferrari NO race in Monaco
In the 80's when I first went to Montreal for the Canadian GP it was cancelled on account of a sponcership war between Moulsen an La Blatt brewries. Everytime I have tried to see a Shuttle launch or landing it has been cancelled be cause of weather. Last month I did not go to the Shuttle launch however I did walk outside the resturant at Epcot to watth it from there and you guessed it, clouds kept it from being seen from Disney, but at least it got off.
Of course we have been to many F1 races both in Europe and North America.

But I could use the $1100, at lest I have not done airfair yet, bt I will when the Ferrari tour is scheduled.

Hey Bubba,
You wrote <<tens of millions of Euros in the pockets.... >>

IIRC, in Bernie's case it was *Billions* of USDs/Euro's or whatever. I
recall him being one of the 10 wealthiest in UK - or maybe the world..

Also, on a lighter note, my favorite commentator Sam Posey read a
prepared announcement this morning during qualifying and spoke at lenght
about the wealth of history at The British GP. His voice is showing his
age - but that is probably true of most of us. Anyway, it was nice hearing
his unusual style when talking about a track.

I'm hoping things will get better but I'm not holding my breath.

Couldn't agree more with your comments about the new tracks that leave
me cold inside when watching. They just seem to be missing something the
old have in spades. Even if the old ones get chicanes and such they still have that cachet of soul and tradition the new ones have little chance of
attaining.

For those watching Speeds coverage of qualifying for the Brit GP can
hear a lot of comments about the recent decision to break away from the
Bernie/Mosley regime.

Hey Erick: The REAL Formula 1 died a long time ago. Max,?mit ?his 'der
Fuhrer' complex, with the help of Bernie, killed it with their 'Do it?my
way, or the highway' attitudes.

Dropping the tradtitional tracks that made the sport what it is today in
favor of jungles and sand piles that nobody really cares about really
turned many fans off. Including me. And that's just the tip of the
iceberg.

But it put tens of millions of Euros in the pockets of the very people who
were killing the sport.

The day the new series starts is the day that I will stop watching,
attending and supporting what is now called?F1.

Let the games begin!? Yer pal, Ferrari Bubba
