Ferrari Mailing List: Steve Matchett and the 288GTO

I am reading Steve Matchett's "A Mechanic's Tale" currently...very good. It is 
based on his rise into F1 and quest for a Constructor's Championship.

There is an interesting recount on his tenure at a Ferrari dealership during 
the mid-late 1980s. He talks of doing major services on a TR and his first 
sighting of a 288GTO. His knowledge of transverse gearboxes in these Ferrari 
road cars gave him an edge and a foot in the door to work for Benneton.
