I once drove my MGB about 1 hour when the generator failed - I used parking lights when it started getting dark but I made it. If you have a multimeter you can charge the battery, check it, then drive it for 20 min or so and check to see how much juice is left. Then extrapolate to see if you'll make
it home.

failed. I have access to a battery charger and time to charge the
