Yea I am going to replace the throwout bearing as well
It was weired this was the first time this car has ever left me anywhere
With 87k plus on the clock it was bound to happen

Does seem like that, though a busted diaphram is a strange failure mode. 
Perhaps the clutch disk spline has stripped.  FWIW when I had my TR 
transaxle repaired and upgraded I replaced the still functional, but 
slightly gritty feeling, throwout bearing.  A few bays over was a low 
mileage 575 that had seized its throwout bearing and the clutch diaphram 
release fingers were major gouged.
