I've tried steering this friend to a 550, but he is enamoured with the 456.   
It's a good looking car, and there are owners out there driving them everyday 
who swear by them. (There is one locally with almost 100K on the odo)   Then 
there are others who have cars like Phil describes below.   I'm trying to 
figure out what a realistic price is on a well maintained car with recent 
services up to date. 
I knew I'd get cLyDe's take but where are the rest of the comments?  :)

   It would seem like a heck of a lot of car for $35,000.00 ( as Clyde
   suggests) but the problem is that even at that price it make the car
   appealing to some one who really CAN NOT afford to own it....and that
   is what causes a great deal of dissapointment , dissatisfaction and
   ultimately a repair and maintenance nightmare that would give a Nash
   Rambler a bad name.
