The maintenance nightmares are scary and I believe the automatic
transmission is a huge risk.....I can't bare repeating what it would cost to
replace it, lol.

It's pretty ironic since GM transmissions are typically robust and with
access to lots of parts and places to rebuild/service them...but apparently
there's something different about the auto in the 456 than the standard GM
auto tranny (was the 400/412 like this too?). I believe this to be true but
would welcome knowledge refuting this hearsay.

A shame since I was hoping someone would take the 456 GTA and do some torque
converter and other tranny mods to get a feature article in Car Craft..:)
