The great disparity is the price you pay for the yellow box and black pony.

The actual Bosch OEM replacement part is just about $100ish.

(the cheaper ones require splicing/etc - which no dealer is going to do - nor
would a butt-splice hold up under the environmental conditions present around
the 512TR's exhaust system)

The $100ish part is "plug and play".

The remaining $200+ (or $400ish - if the new price is to be believed) is simply
the Ferrari-owners tax.

It's similar to the 'tax' netted from wide-eyed first-time-buyers who pay the
FML 'asking price' as opposed to the Clyde price.
