Ok here is the real answer if the pump is not leaking Don't break the seal and don't fuck with it. There is a delicate carbon seal on the back side of the impeller that if you should disturb this balance you will only know when you put the car back together and run it. But by then it will be to late So what I would do is inspect the housing and that's it. That is what I did when I did the recent service on my car and I talked to the lead tech at Ferrari ATL and he said the same this DON'T FUCK WITH IT ! We currently have the engine out, cam covers out, all valve clearances measured (three need adjustment). We are of course going to replace the belts and tensioners, as well as all cam seals, etc, etc. Questions are - to remove the water pump is it enough to remove the two screws that hold it's cover or do we need to remove the front engine cover, which would require both belts to be removed, as well as the camshaft pulley? - if we need to remove the pulley, is it a left or right thread bolt?
