I bought one from Ted years ago. I place a shop rag over the octagon and tap on the socket. After your experience I've been prone to over-tightening the centerlocks.

No experience with torque multipliers, but if you want a socket that is
exceptionally well done, I have the Hill Engineering one and have been
quite impressed with their stuff:

It doesn't see much use, so if you'd like to borrow it feel free since
they're not exactly cheap. Of course, neither is the multiplier it
appears...

Subject: [Ferrari] TR centerlock removal solution?

I just bought a used Wright 2000 ft. lb. output torque multiplier. Does anyone have experience with one of these? I never used one before,
but assuming the socket's female part doesn't shear off I should be able
to remove a way tight and very stubborn left front centerlock from the
TR. When my local F-dealer tried to remove it using a smaller torque
multiplier he sheared its output drive square clean off.

It's this model: http://www.ohiopowertool.com/p-1607-...ier-9s292.aspx
