Supercharging - if you want to go unique - go Comprex supercharger.

Actually a supercharger is a great way to get extra performance out of any
engine. For those of you who are a friend on facebook, in one of the albums
I have a picture or two of a supercharger that I put on my motorcycle. The
supercharger adds some horsepower but it's real advantage is torque, so when
you dyno the vehicle, ask the operator to switch the scale from horsepower
to torque and compare before and after, it really is amazing.

There's a supercharger kit that is bolt on. You'd have to go to Fchat for
the details and dyno charts, but it is a very healthy hp increase. About
$6500 from memory. (!)

If you are handy with and have access to a machine shop, DIY supercharging would be the best bet. There's no need to change anything in the CFI other
than to ensure it doesn't leak on the high pressure side. Apparently it's
the same system (exactly) as used on a Porsche 928. The exhaust can be
whatever you want - the freer the better, and there's no need to rebuild
the
engine until you break something :) The standard 4:1 compression also
likes
the forced induction.

Add in an intercooler and water injection, and up the boost to 20psi, and
find out what breaks first! I remember Ric Rainbolt doing something
similar
and finding that about 400 hp was a safe upper limit before drive train
components started to get fragile.

Anyway, it sounds like a fun project. I think a sc would work out cheaper
and easier than tricking it with normal aspiration. Probably more power
and
better drivability too.

Just my 2 cents.... Dave

What would you guys do to a 1980 2v injected 308 to get more normally
aspirated hp and reduce weight?

I know I could:

1. Go to Fchat
2. Install Chevy V8

But what upgrades have listmembers done to achieve some modern hp
increases?

I'm thinking a set of hot cams, ported heads, 10.5 pistons and EFI would
do
it.

Thoughts?
