Re: After-action report on 2007 F430

Once I bought a pickup. It was a new model, and the huge dealer only had two in
on the vast lot, out of literally a thousand cars baking in the hot Texas sun.
All those units sitting there making interest for the local bank on the floor
plan. They wanted $32,000. I offered $28,000. Nope.

The salesman started into his time worn, hours-long routine. I stopped him.
Wrote out a check for $28,000 and dropped it on the desk. "If your manager
changes his mind give me a call" I said, "Cash it or tear it up. I'm going home
to dinner" (it was after work). And I left.

Took me 30 minutes to drive to the house. The phone rang as I was pulling up
the driveway.

There are lots of 430s out there. Will this work for Jim? I don't know. But if
anyone has the cojones to drop a $140,000 check on the guy's desk and walk out
I think Conforti does. Forget that they are assholes, they have a clock in
their head and every time the phone rings they wonder if the bank is calling.

Besides it is too much fun to watch the look on the guy's face when you
actually leave.
