This is a good reminder that this list ROCKS!!!

I used cLyDe pricing recently to buy my Wife a pre-owned Mercedes GL450.
About 10months ago we were going to trade in our Honda Odyssey for another
one when I noticed my wife making comments about how sharp she thought the
GL450 SUV on the road next to us was.  Long story short, we found ourselves
taking home a GL450 for the weekend to 'test drive'.   Of course she fell in
love with it, but I was not going to pay the $48K the dealer was asking for
it  (2007 w/39,000 miles) even if it once retailed for $80K.   When it came
time to make the offer, I told them that I would pay $37K given that they
had taken the car in on lease turn in the day before, had ZERO advertising
dollars in it and had 3 other used ones on the lot. At first the manager
seemed offended, then they counter offered at $42K.   I politely told them
that I had the funds available and would gladly produce a check for $37K.
When they would not let us leave, I knew I had them.   They ultimately came
down to $37,500.  I explained to them that while I am a huge supporter of
local business, I could buy a GL450 all day long on the net for $37K.   I
told them that I was going to keep looking and to have a nice night.   The
conversation ended with them handing over the keys to my wife, who continues
to absoutely love her car.

Keep up the fight Jim, you'll get your 430 at your price!

JIM

Once I bought a pickup. It was a new model, and the huge dealer only had two
in on the vast lot, out of literally a thousand cars baking in the hot Texas
sun. All those units sitting there making interest for the local bank on the
floor plan. They wanted $32,000. I offered $28,000. Nope.

The salesman started into his time worn, hours-long routine. I stopped him.
Wrote out a check for $28,000 and dropped it on the desk. "If your manager
changes his mind give me a call" I said, "Cash it or tear it up. I'm going
home to dinner" (it was after work). And I left.

Took me 30 minutes to drive to the house. The phone rang as I was pulling up
the driveway.

There are lots of 430s out there. Will this work for Jim? I don't know. But
if anyone has the cojones to drop a $140,000 check on the guy's desk and
walk out I think Conforti does. Forget that they are assholes, they have a
clock in their head and every time the phone rings they wonder if the bank
is calling.

Besides it is too much fun to watch the look on the guy's face when you
actually leave.
