Listen you have to buy cars like these "like a drug deal" you go in with
cash!
Never an offer, the only offer you should get is from a women!
Go rent some Miami Vice CDs' its all there.
When I bought my TR they said the same shit and the 512 was still hot and
they were making them and FML had dozens of them listed.
But FAF wanted this red thing gone from there lot!
I told him that I fly for a smile and whats $100 in phone calls if I plan to
buy a $125K car!
I left for a 4 trip day on Monday, told them I was going to LAX, MIA and
SFO(all of this was a lie, I wasn?t going to any of these cities but they
had Ferrari dealerships there and they knew it) and then home and I would
find a car there at my price, buy Wednesday my phone was on FIRE!

Another key is to mention that this approach is only bulletproof with
*depreciating* cars.

The Clyde operation may have less than typical results with a hot collector
car.

Years, ago, I was looking at a vintage Shelby. I found one and the buyer was
asking $81k. I asked him what his full name was and when he could show it.

I had a cashier's check from a local bank made out for $76k in his name. No
stories, no BS, no discussion of whether I was serious or not. When it came
time to negotiate, I gave him the check...then excused myself from the
garage so he and his buddy could discuss, savor and sweat with the check in
their hands.

I came back in about 10 mins later and he refused, returning the check. I
was shocked and thanked him. He sold the car 3 days later for full price
since they are desirable.

Chances are that an F430 will never qualify for this type of situation.

The CLYDE negotiaton technique hinges on one key point that Jim's experience
misses.

You don't walk in the door with an OFFER.

You walk in the door with a CHECK.

Two totally-different situations, the latter forces the dealership/salesman
to deeply consider the wise adage: "A bird in the hand is worth two in the
bush".  The latter also washes-away any and all doubt about one's ability to
pay, or obtain financing.  Lots of people talk the talk, after all.  I'm
more-inclined to believe that had Jim laid a check on the hood of the car,
the salesman would have worked to find a way to cash that check, not B.S.
Jim to write a new one.  Just my 0.02 cents.
