Hmm, that ice thing sounds like fun, except the Windy City guys always seem to have a giant stick lodged inappropriately, would be great to have my son in the back seat while sliding about too :) I'd take the GTI or maybe my wife's 4Runner :) Its got a V8 and no "stuck accellerator" issues :). That NCM DE pretty much set the bar for me for all other track events... They are doing another one at Autobahn next year, same crowd (Road America ate too many cars I think for their insurance). GM's execs show up to these and bring several of the factory drivers. Not sure when for China, next month sometime I think, probably Bejing? Going a bit stir crazy with the cold weather, I am not geared well for it.

Mike

Ice AX is an "unofficial" windy city event. No helmets needed. You can fit as many people in your car as you have seat belts. If you have a convertible, you have to run with top down... just kidding. If you don't want to get soaked, leave it up! I have a great video of me running in a Z3 with the top down. Everyone questioned the owner repeatedly was he sure he wanted me to drive. His famous last words... "I've driven hard all day. What's Rodney going to do that I haven't already?" One roll of paper towels, a blank check offered for any electrical repairs if necessary and everyone laughing at us, years later they still poke fun at him for letting me drive... Mike, if you're gonna get passed, not a bad crowd to be lapped by. Awesome. When are you going back to China? Hmm

Might be interested for that lemons thing, if I am not in China again
:) As for the Vette Museum parades... Yeah the Green and Blue guys
pretty much are squirt down the straights and slow everywhere
else... Now in the Instructors group last year, I got passed by Andy
    Pilgrim and
Randy Pobst probably a few times, but they were in ZR1's otherwise I
woulda had em.... surely. Not to mention the guy with a replica GT1
C6.R (less the restrictor plate), putting in lap times right at
    the ALMS
qualifying ones. And some of the other guys could drive really well
also. I was pretty happily surprised... But yeah unless you ran
    in the
advanced group on street tires or the instructors group it was pretty
slow, but at Road America, very few parades formed up...

The ice AX though, Have to check that date... Wonder if they would
    let
me run with my son strapped into the back seat? Probably need a
    helmet
for him too... Is this Windy City or Badger?

    >> As some of you may recall, I took a rental car to the

to do it again, I'd take the helicopter ride from Vegas to the
Skybridge. IIRC, you can do ride, a decent/good buffet lunch and
bridge for about $100. I went in '07. Look for coupons in the
Vegas mags or online. If you want me to send you pics, drop a
line. If I'd go again, I would probably go into the canyon next
    trip.

that you don't own and have insurance on. I got the rental
airborne 3 times and the parking brake never felt the same again.
You must fill up the tank at the station off the highway before
you proceed or you will run out of fuel if you drive like me.
People who drove their own car took 45 min to an hour because of
poor road/perfect rally conditions. I took just over 20 min and
followers weren't able to keep up let alone pass... >>
