I understand the world of $upreme cars and $upreme audiophile sound systems very well, two drug habits that have no cure....and should have no cure :) But watches I find harder to get especially once you get past the $10k mark or so. The more "high end" the watch, often times the less flashy and more discreet (like Patek Phillipes). A friend of mine (former lister who will remain nameless!) told me he took off his buddy's $75k watch at a bar and realized he forgot to put it back on after he left. He came running back about 15-20 minutes afterwards and it was still there! He said if it was a $3k Rolex it would have been gone...lol. I try to get into the mind of these guys....they really seem to be into the workings of the watch, the craftsmanship, some of the same things some Ferrari enthusiasts are into about Ferraris. To a certain point that's fine but when you get to serious money watches, I can't imagine you'd be buying them without some sense of wanting to show them off so at some point that has to come into play. And then it would be somewhat hypocritical because that's what their beef is against expensive Rolexes and Tag Heuers. If you really have all the money in the world then maybe these are worthy acquisitions, but otherwise hard to rationalize, IMHO. FG
