No no no...I never said the Patek isn't valuable, just that its value is insane. I also stated that if enough people are insane... then that is the norm and they become the "sane" ones... Leaving me out :) I will be padding my office next summer... But really I don't see it. And honestly, if I asked the "man on the street", name the most expensive brand of watch you can think of? How many would answer Patek? Try this at the local Sonic in Indiana sometime... I'll be sure to ask next time I have dinner in Lake Forest. As for an 800k road car? Even if I could afford it, I would not own one and your questions are probably just one of the reasons why not. I can't fathom someone buying a car and parking it in a garage or museum. I just can't. I really commend some of the guys on this list for putting their high $$$ iron out on the track or just racking up the miles... Dead things belong in museums :)

I have one myself that I picked up in Shenzhen. Admittedly tougher to bring these into Europe (I am told the fines are quite large). But itwouldn't cost you a 308 either :)But I have to say anyone who wants to trade their sports car in for a watch (even if it were a Miata), is just not a car enthusiast. Sorry Erik. I never will understand the "more money than sense watches" any more than I get the whole Vertu business model. I see the appeal of a Ferrari, all of the ones I have driven have unique sounds and driving persona that makes you want to push it a bit harder everytime you get behind the wheel, and no question they look amazing just sitting still, but to exchange that experience for a piece of jewelry?
