The $63k price was my tongue in cheek amount it would cost to bring the car
back to nice. While the car was for sale - a ridiculously low amount I
recall - it could turn out to be a money pit if one had to hire out all the
restoration and do none of the work themselves. My guess.
DOUGDo agree with Mike - when we were about 95% done with the future national winning Porsche 912 concours project I had many people ask me if it were for sale - of course I would reply and put a price on it twice what it was worth. See - - - - it IS for sale, you just don't want to pay my price. heh heh
Alain Prosts F1 car eh? I have his Mclaren TAG (Porsche) Turbo engine from 1984 - - often asked if it is for sale? Ayep, and I quote the price of a house. BUWHAAAhahahahaahhaha

I think some dealership owners put some of their cars out there with a ridiculous price because they want to keep that particular car (for whatever reason), and it would take a lot to get them to part with it... Talked to the owner at Lake Forest Sports cars last year and he had a few in his collection like that (a 206 Dino race car, and Alain Prosts' F1 car to name a few). That's one heck of a premium for a questionable "collectors item"!! Even 7 years ago a 928 could be bought for ~$15k for a pristine model.I wonder how tenaciously they fought for that $63k price? Not very I think.;-) LarryT OilAnalysis Time? The 928 was unveiled in San Diego at the PCA Porsche Parade - you know, the place where you get together with a thousand of your closest friends.
