This link is a month old or so - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Dr2ZB36p9Y
it's a link to youtube "fly bys" so a new search may yield more videos.
SOme incredible stuff here -
Speaking of the SR-71 on AB at 100' - I'll have
to find it but I read a article by a former SR pilot who was asked "what's the
*slowest* you ever flew the 71?" it was the opposite of the question he was used
to and after some thought told the story of being asked to do a flyby over a
unused airport for a group of kids interested in flying - he was intent on
finding the airport and let his airspeed drop dangerously low - when he saw
*how* low he hit full AB and really put on a show ! They were suitably
impressed.

My favorite is still Farnborough in 1986 or 7 (don't recall which year, we went both times), The major players there were trying to sell their weapons platforms. Watching the French Mirages, American F-16'sone upping each other throughout the show was fantastic. They flew an early Eurofighter that clearly was not fully trimmed out as it did not roll around its central axis, and they flew the SR-71 towards the end of the show, which I have never seen since, but wow was that cool. That said, I love a high speed pass with that whistle preceding the boom. The F-15 does it best, but you MUST have the boom... otherwise its just a whistle with no payoff. Certainly having all your torque at 0 RPM is amazing, and having played with RC cars for many years, its about time someone made a full size version :) All it will take is an incremental improvement in battery technology to push these into the mainstream, but I would not trade it for the WOT scream of a V-8, 10 or 12 on any given sunny afternoon :). You hear this faint whistling noise as it gets closer and closer (you can see its going really fast but it is spookily quiet) and then BOOM! Its kind of like that with out the boom... So a car that zooms with no noise doesn't appeal too much, not matter how quick it is. Now if it made that Tie Fighter sound instead of Luke's Land Speeder, that would be excellent :) Britt2Asa [at] aol.com wrote: Well yes in a way but I was to busy trying to breath as the performance sends the blood rushing around your head in a dizzying fashion! I work with electric vehicles every day however the Tesla is really a new breed and if you get a chance to get in one do it! It makes what we call in the industry (The Luke Skywalker landspeeder noise) so it isn't completely silent but it is so quiet it seems even faster than it is (if that makes sense). You mostly here the tyres scrabbling for grip, small stones being thrown up and then you just zoom off. All a bit of fun! However if it was my money I would by a 328 GTS or even a Mondial. New Evora is a good car as well. Bet we see an electric version of that from Lotus once Tesla quits making the sports car next year and switches to the saloon.....
