Michel -
First swap the two lift relays (right & left) - middle row - last 2 on right.  If problem persists, focus on the limit switch contacts in the left pod.  These contacts note the position as fully open or closed and when they are dirty, they can be ambiguous.  Take it apart and use some contact spray.   Note there are 4 relays total for the headlight pods.

Can you rebuild a headlight motor ?

My left headlight motor goes up and down about 6-7 times before setting itself up when I turn the lights on. It has been doing this for 9 years. Just before I stored it for winter last week, it never stopped going up and down. Lucky me I was getting into the garage when I decided to test it. It did this even when I turned the engine off for at least a few more times. I guess that means I was lucky for 9 years and it's time to get another one.
