Michael, There are contacts in the motor that
switch based on positions fully up or fully down. These are possibly the
problem, or the relays as previously suggested. If it is the motor that is the
issue, it may be an easy fix. There’d be no harm in stripping it down to
see what’s going on in there. You might get lucky and be able to fix it
cheaply and easily. Of course, try the relay first. That’s even easier
and cheaper to fix. Hope this helps, Dave From: Michel Savard
[mailto:mysavard [at] videotron.ca] 1981 308 GTSi: Can you rebuild a headlight motor ? Is buying a used one worth it ? My left headlight motor goes up and down about 6-7 times
before setting itself up when I turn the lights on. It has been doing this
for 9 years. Just before I stored it for winter last week, it never stopped
going up and down. Lucky me I was getting into the garage when I decided to
test it. It did this even when I turned the engine off for at least a few
more times. I guess that means I was lucky for 9 years and it's time to get
another one. Thanks for the advice! Michael Savard
