Lash notes "A friend runs an ex-GV 312T5. They make them run with the side skirts fixed in the "up" position for safety."
Side skirts - what an era. I saw the side skirt cars run for real at Long Beach. At the Queens Hair Pin all of them sounding as if they were dragging body work and coming apart.
Isn't this the same era they placed a titanium skid plate under the transmission? I believe that era also made the cars carry a full fuel load. In the early laps, the heavy and squashy suspended cars bottomed out and created a shower of sparks at every bump. The tunnel at Monaco - ho boy - Interesting.
The spinal compression must have been brutal. Its a wonder those drivers could walk after a race.
DOUGThe rumor that the tailors measured just under the armpits to get a good trouser belt fit is a total farce.
