Many years ago I bought a Nikon LS2000 Coolscan 35mm scanner and
digitized most of my 3-4k slides over a year or so, then burned CDs
for the kids. Newer scanners are slightly faster but no better in
quality of results. I had some of the jpegs blown up to 16" x 24"
and framed. Check eBay for the older used scanners which have the
same resolution as new ones but are far more afordable.
