I like your taste in the Macallan (esp the 25 year) but can't develop a taste
for the Laphroaig. Tastes like iodine to me.

Summer method of enjoying Macallan: pour into martini glass with one good
sized ice cube. Remove cube after 45 seconds and toss cube into firepit. Enjoy
the Macallan at a moderately chilled temp and with just enough water from the
ice to open up the flavors.

Sublime!

Doug,

It depends on what you like - Scotch comes from different
regions in Scotland, and they have different styles.

It's like saying "beef" - some people like ribeyes (yes, please)
some like tenderloins (Lisa).

Islay sourced SMS are "smoky" from the peat fires used.

Laphroaig 15 year is perfectly good example (and IMHO one of the
best Islays)

I'm a fan of Speysides, a part of the Scottish Highlands.

The Macallan in 12 and 18 year are both good. The 25 y/o is
absolutely superb.

Best way to find out what you like is to sample a few with some
good friends. :)

Jim

PS: A wee nip of the 25 y/o Macallan neat, and a (looks left and
then looks right) cuban Montecristo cigar made good mates.
