For your simple needs - to jack up the 512 (and 993) and change wheels, this will work perfectly fine. http://www.harborfreight.com/rapid-pump-15-ton-compact-aluminum-racing-jack- 68053-html-7814.html If you use 30 seconds of Google-Fu, you can find Harbor Freight discount codes all over the place, and/or wait approximately 8 hrs for the next HF "sale", and usually end up getting one of these jacks for $60-$65. Are they junk? They're far from Snap-On. But you're not a pro mechanic, and you'll use it twice a year, which makes these perfect. If you go to the track, you'll find that 95%+ of the NON-PRO guys with jacks there are using these things. When the frame bends because you're jacking on an uneven surface, or a wheel finally pops off, toss it in the dumpster and buy another. You're never going to get underneath the car without jackstands anyway, so who cares? TIP FOR FERRARI OWNERS: if you're worried that your low profile jack still won't fit under your sports car, be a man: grab a fender, and lift the m*therf*cker up into the air. You'll get another inch or two of ground clearance, and the stiction in the suspension will keep the car from dropping all the way down. Enough height to slide the jack underneath. Oh, and it doesn't suck to use a hockey puck on the jack saddle, between it and your frame. HTH, --Dennis (just visiting and dropping a note for Larry)
