Get a Belgian Malinios.  The family pet can clear 7' tall fences and you have to speak German to get him to stop.  Best 900 Euros ever spent!

Mals are great working dogs, but having worked K9 before and seen first hand how crazy they ALL are, you couldn't pay me to own one in the home.  That's the one great thing about GSDs, they're actually able to turn the crazy on or off depending on whether they're working or not.

My accounting manager used to train Belgian Malanois for the military when she was in the service. The bond of a good team is really hard to explain to anyone who hasn't experienced it...
